I agree with you Michael. Out of any editor I use Avid is the only one not offering this feature. And I believe it is at their own detriment.

Thank you guys. I really wish Avid would consider this as it would be really nice to be cutting on it again. But until that day, my shop probably won’t make that switch.

Did you ever find a solution to this?

You are absolutely right Nathan. Finally, someone in the Premiere forum that isn’t trying to tell me to change my thinking to assimilate to the Premiere way of doing things.
Yes, the program has come a long way but there are very BASIC editorial functionalities that are grossly overlooked in even the most recent software update. Sure, I like it more than FCP7 now. But, at this point, it is absolutely no replacement whatsoever for Media Composer or Symphony.
My Premiere wish list is growing day by day into a beast of missing features

Thanks Kevin. Man, my feature request is getting HUGE!!!!!!!!!! I have an Excel sheet that grows every day. It seems to me that there are some very basic functionalities that could be added to really make Premiere shine. But, unfortunately for me, having edited for going on 20 years, I see the lack of these basic functionalities as oversights on Adobe’s end that need to be corrected. My workflow is highly customized and my speed and proficiency is based on being able to customize my editorial experience to the level in which I have become accustomed. To Adobe’s credit they have been highly responsive. Hopefully they keep it up and give our Avid budgets a reason to be nervous. But they’re not quite there yet.

Jeff, thank you very much for the quick response! I am going to submit to the Premiere CS6 wish list that this become a feature that can be done on-the-fly to clips already imported into the project. It seems to me that the default behavior should be to have this feature “enabled” instead of having to opt in to it. Have a great day.

Thank you. But that was not the question. I am trying to assign a single command to multiple keyboard shortcuts. This way I have multiple options on the keyboard for common tasks. For example I would like to have “Set In & Set Out” on multiple keyboard buttons. And “Zoom In Zoom Out” on multiple keyboard buttons. Common trim options and interface settings are tasks that I often assign to multiple keyboard button combinations.
From what I can tell, Premiere CS6 only allows you to assign a command to one shortcut option. Pulling Avid and FCP pre-assigned layouts is not needed for me because, if you can’t tell, I have a heavily customized workflow and every non-linear I’ve ever worked with in the past allows for me do achieve this desired result of assigning a single command to multiple places on the keyboard.
At this point I believe it is a software limitation.

October 8, 2012 at 3:32 pm in reply to: Blackmagic Decklink HD Extreme 2 and Premiere CS6I too am having this issue with the same card. A fellow editor suggested to update the firmware on the Blackmagic card. I have not tried it yet but plan on giving it a shot today.
