  • Simple Keyboard Shortcut Question

Folks, coming from the Avid world I am use to being able to assign a single command to multiple keyboard shortcuts. For example, I like to assign the Zoom In function to both “Command +” & “Shift C.” This way no matter which side of the keyboard my hand is on at the time I can use the most convenient of the two keyboard shortcut options. Will Premiere CS6 allow me to assign single commands to multiple shortcuts? I cannot for the life of me get it this to work from within the keyboard shortcuts dialogue box.

    Thanks Fellow Bovines,

In the keyboard shortcuts menu you can change everything to the AVID set up. At the top of the menu, seek for a pop up menu where you can select shortcut configuration either from FCP, AVID or Premiere.

A fast way to zoom in and out is holding ALT and using the mouse scroll, using that it really doesn’t matter where in the keyboard you are.

Thank you. But that was not the question. I am trying to assign a single command to multiple keyboard shortcuts. This way I have multiple options on the keyboard for common tasks. For example I would like to have “Set In & Set Out” on multiple keyboard buttons. And “Zoom In Zoom Out” on multiple keyboard buttons. Common trim options and interface settings are tasks that I often assign to multiple keyboard button combinations.

From what I can tell, Premiere CS6 only allows you to assign a command to one shortcut option. Pulling Avid and FCP pre-assigned layouts is not needed for me because, if you can’t tell, I have a heavily customized workflow and every non-linear I’ve ever worked with in the past allows for me do achieve this desired result of assigning a single command to multiple places on the keyboard.

At this point I believe it is a software limitation.
