This is presumably the way to do this in CC as well, correct? The reason I ask is because I have to use Pluraleyes, as PP CC is struggling to sync my clips by audio (not sure why…Pluraleyes made quick work of them).

Thanks so much, Angelo. I’ve just tested, and that does indeed work. But, that just means I need to duplicate all of my card archives, for messing with directory structure is a dangerous game!

Peter, or any other Adobe people…can I expect this to be updated? It adds a lot of work and time to my workflow…

It’s not. I get that. But that’s not what I want. I don’t want a durational marker–I want a singular marker with a label that shows up in the timeline (like ae) and in the Program Monitor (like FCP7). I don’t want to have to arbitrarily adjust the duration of markers just to fit a label.

I don’t know about persistent markers (interesting to learn this, though!) but I’d like to see one more thing in Premiere: The options to have labels next to markers. It’s an AWESOME function in AE. As far as I can tell, you can only determine the text associated with a marker by editing it. Am I correct in thinking that?

Unfortunately, my timeline has transitions, so that won’t work (that was my initial plan, too). So, I ended up just exporting portions of the timeline, with handles of my own making.

The most frustrating part of this whole process is that I can’t Media Manage my sequence with a transcode. That would allow me to have a new project in Prores format, without having to deal with the time/space of transcoding ALL of my media.

Is there a feature of that type in the works by any chance? Otherwise, it basically makes the MPE useless for me.

Thanks Peter. I actually just realized I was being a dolt and making that mistake! The only problem is…there is no way to get my timeline into a format that Premiere can use.

If I were in FCP, I’d Media Manage and transcode–not possible in Premiere. I’d love to try Speed Grade, but I have a Black Magic output card, and no other way to monitor accurately. Do you have any suggestions, because I’m completely stuck.

If I can’t transcode my timeline to a codec that I can color…I’m not sure that the MPE is of any use to me.

By way of an update: I’ve tried a simple timeline using only the MXF footage. It doesn’t work. When I bring it into final cut, some of the clips are disconnected. When I try to reconnect, it tells me there is an issue with the “Media Start and End” and then I get this error:
“The file does not have proper content to reconnect to…”

So, it really looks like premiere is messing something up with my footage and XML export. Any ideas?? I’m desperate!

Thanks Peter…I did NOT know that trick! I would certainly appreciate it if you could bring it up. Even better than a keyboard shortcut would be a preference that would automatically adjust the zoom to fit a whole clip (like FCP7) each time a new one is loaded in.
