Prelude Spanned P2 card archives
Hi All,
No Prelude forum yet, so I’ll post here. I’ve scoured the net and help docs to figure out how to do this.I have many P2 card archives. File are spanned over pairs of cards (1-2, 3-4). I want to ingest directly to h.264. I’ve tried this advice:
If the group of spanned clips itself spans two P2 or XDCAM EX cards, copy the full directory trees from them both to same-level folders on the hard disk before importing. Day 1 > Card 1
Day 1 > Card 2
Day 1 > Card 3
Day 1 > Card 4Unfortunately, I am only able to view one card at a time in the Prelude Ingest browser. It spans the files on a singular card properly, but not those split over two cards (I’ve tried importing a spanned file from one card, to no avail).
Anyone have any idea?

https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/3/924145 Consensus is that if you combine the contents of each card’s folder structure then it should import fully.
Try it on a pair of cards, duplicate them and then shuffle them around into one structure.

Thanks so much, Angelo. I’ve just tested, and that does indeed work. But, that just means I need to duplicate all of my card archives, for messing with directory structure is a dangerous game!
Peter, or any other Adobe people…can I expect this to be updated? It adds a lot of work and time to my workflow…

I’m running into the same issues. There has to be a better, more organized way for this to be handled, anyone have any good ideas/alternate workflows?
As a best practice I like to keep those card directories completely unmodified as part of the cliche, “do no harm” mantra.
