Obviously there is no general rule. We agree with many pros that best results for 720/60 is a shutter speed of 1/120.

Have you checked “gain” setting? in the manual, I think, on page 103, in the section about SW Mode screen.

I think that it would help to know what camera you are using to find out about setting problems.

In general 480i might look pixelated on some computer screens if these are set to HD resolution.
Then you may check “System Settings” in FCP if in “playback control” the “video quality” is set “low”.

Either recapture footage from one camera or transcode all clips from one camera to using Compressor. Probably a lot of extra hours, good luck.

After all, your problem has to be solved. I would run all .MXF files through raylight software (license: US 100) creating .mov reference files. Then you select all reference files files and dump them in MPEG Streamclip (free software from squared5.com), then export adequate file format. Charge your client the US$ 100 for the software and some computer hours and you are through, best luck.

Regarding workflow transfer your P2 files to your computer, run them through “raylight” software creating .mov reference files, drop all on a hard disk and sent it to the editor. He’ll be happy.
