480i LOOKS BAD IN FINAL CUT VIEWER WINDOW BUT NOT IN EXPORT, WHY?
I shot on my panasonic hvx p2 card in 480i. And when i look at it in the final cut pro timeline the image quality looks kinda pixely. The edges of things have sorta a zigzag square effect to them. I tried to different final cut systems and had the same issue. When I export the footage to a self contained movie the footage looks good. But why when I am editing the footage it looks pixely. Does anyone know how to fix this asap? It must be some sorta fcp default

You can’t judge quality from your computer monitor. You’ll need an i/o device and a calibrated broadcast monitor to see the correct quality.

In general 480i might look pixelated on some computer screens if these are set to HD resolution.
Then you may check “System Settings” in FCP if in “playback control” the “video quality” is set “low”.
