I agree with Michael.
If you are having issues with levels/gamma, adjust your render setting in AE. In Codec Settings, you can choose 709 or RGB. Coming from Avid, keep everything 709 and make sure any objects you add in AE are video safe.

Try a Sandisk or even Transcend – run some tests before you loose important data.

Gaussian should work fine. Just used it today and without a render, it does look pixelated, but was fine once rendered. I sometimes make a minor change to the effect (change size by 1) to see if a new render looks different.

Find the clip in the bin (if you’re not sure which clip is used, match frame, find bin).
Hit delete key, delete the media – not the Master clip.
Select the clip in the bin (it may still be highlighted), Batch Import. Point to the revised movie and import. That should take care of it. If it is hanging on import, that’s another problem.
Let us know if that works for you.

Yes, only one project is open at a time. But you can open bins from other projects. CMD+O or Open Bin, browse to the other project, select the bin you are looking for and Open. If that bin is open by another user, you will not be able to save changes, but you can duplicate sequences and place in your own bin. Management of files is critical at this point, since you can real easily end up with different versions if you are not careful.

Use the method Gaz mentions for syncing.
But to answer your question about snapping to locators, try one of the two options I use…
– Map the “Go to locator” key on my keyboard. I have it mapped to the Shift+A (previous) and Shift+S (next).
– Or if you hold CTRL (CMD on Mac) and click near the locator it will snap to it. This also works with edits.Hope that helps.

Yes, Yes, Yes.
You can even share bins created in v6 with earlier versions. Crazy, huh?

Are you able to Link to Folder?
Try starting from scratch with this step to link to the AMA files.

If you just upgraded to Lion, I would recommend uninstalling MC and reinstalling. Let us know if anything changes.

If all your material is on the external drive, just copy your Project folder to that drive and you should be good. The Project file has all the bin info.
As far as version number. Some effects will not transfer to old versions, but you should be able to open it. (I’m not sure about v.3 – anyone?)
