Capture setting on IO was Component Betacam to DV 48kHz.

IO is only Firewire device. HDD is via eSATA.

The problem has nothing to do with the sequence. The clips played in the Viewer show the problem. But, it was NTSC DV 48kHz.

I’m not in front of that computer so forgive me for some details.
OS 10.5. (.4 i think – not the latest)
FCP 6.0.4
QT 7.4.?

My problem is slightly different, but has similar issues.

Captured BetaSP footage via AJA IO into FCP 6.0.4.

While playing back the clips, audio immediately starts to drift. Towards the end of the clip, video goes to black and audio continues. The same is true for clips 19 seconds long or 3 minutes long (the black is proportional to the length of the clip).

Here’s the weird thing. The QT clips play fine outside of FCP — they are in sync in the QT player. Inside FCP the audio drifts and is out of sync.

I have uninstalled the AJA IO software. Trashed my FCP preference using FCP Rescue 6. Restarted. Launced FCP, changed Playback Control;Frame Offset to 0. Still have same issue.

Any ideas?

The 2GB limit is a Windows thing. It’s not Avid, it’s not Quicktime, and as far as I know there is not way around it. If you look at your MediaFiles folder on your Media drive, you will see that the Avid breaks files into 2GB sections.

Nope, that doesn’t show the Clip Title. I get the file name “Clip Name” from the disc, but the “Clip Title” does not show up in any column.

The one thing not mentioned here is what deck you are using.

I’m still using XDCAM Transfer v2.5–the manual states on pages 28 & 29:

Sources cannot be renamed in the following cases:
– When the REC INHIBIT mechanism of the XDCAM device is enabled. [if you see red, it IS enabled.]
– When the source is a Professional Disc loaded in a PDW-U1 XDCAM drive unit.

We have both the PDW-U1 and a PDW-F75. The PDW-U1 cannot save changes made in the Transfer program, the PDW-F75 can. You need to install the FAM software and change the settings on the deck–read instructions when you install.

Synopsis: make sure disc is not REC Inhibited (you don’t see red), use the PDW-F75, CMD-S to save.

Thank you, changing my Easy Setup to a different setting and then back made EVERYTHING happy. I had already trashed my User Settings, I thought I had looked at the Easy Setup, but making a change did the trick. Now life is good. I can Edit to Tape, AND the component output is solid. Thank you.
