Adobe Premiere Pro cannot support WMV format o n Mac. As a complete aside, I find WMV source material problematic, even on my PC with all necessary codes, even though they are supported – just not good media to work with, and very slow to edit. To use WMV video in Adobe Premiere Pro smoothly, a good suggestion is to change WMV to Premiere Pro more compatible MPEG-2 file type with a powerful third party problem for maintaining whole audio&video information.

i just got the contour roam 2 camera, and use sony vegas pro to editing my videos. But it is the h.264 mp4 files recorded by my Coutour Roam 2 HD Action camera, which is practically impossible to edit such video in Vegas, so i changed the mp4 files to Sony Vegas more supporting format.

Actually, H.264 needs a lot of processing power to decode, so it is difficult to decode on the fly. So how to get around this? It would be to change H.264 files to a lossless format that is easier to edit for Sony Vegas Pro. Vegas proxies are XDCAM mpeg-2. If you cannot edit that smoothly then it is not likely anything will edit smoothly on your machine. MPEG-2 is very fast/easy to decode.

Use Canon XF Utility to download clips off your original media from a CF card and back up the clips in a unique folder based on the date and time of the xf browser.
Many users point that the process mentioned above is too complex to follow. Fortunately, i used a 3rd-party tool to rewrap Canon XF305 MXF to ProRes codec for FCP X. Very simple and easy to use. Great!

December 10, 2014 at 9:41 am in reply to: A way to transcode Avid MXF files to ProRes for use in Final Cut?One possible reason is that you did not copy the entire card folder from your camcorder. FCP requires videos metadata while ingesting. If you only have video files, then you will encounter some problem when importing mxf videos into FCP directly.

rename the file and save it to some other location and then import it or import the clip directly from the camera card using media browser.
