Hi doesn’t seem to be working, but thanks. Highlight clip (tried to make the yellow edge appear in different ways so as to test all the variants of highlighting the clip), cmd+T transition spans the two clips next to each other.
FCP7 was just drop it on the clip and done.
Thanks anyway.

Thanks all. Workaround I guess. Shift + -> is easier and not sure how a shortcut for go forward 10 frames is a better alternative to one for 1 second.

December 31, 2012 at 10:35 pm in reply to: Stop first clip on timeline overriding project settingsHa, yes, that’s the checkbox I was asking where it is? So it is when a new sequence is created then? Cool, will keep an eye out next time I am in there.
Cheers, as ever.

Yes, FCPX. But after reading your post I see what happened. It gave the option to add compressor to the Share/Export area but didn’t really explain I had to add the settings one by one so it created a Bundle I guess.
Anyway, what with your post here and in my other thread looks like I’m good 🙂
Many thanks

December 31, 2012 at 10:18 pm in reply to: Stop first clip on timeline overriding project settingsCheers Tom, still can’t see the tick box to stop the first clip affecting stuff but see how I can change the project settings after it has been changed by the first clip.
Cheers

Ok, so I figured out how to add compressor 5 to the share/export options.
I created some custom settings for my needs. Clicked Compressor in Share, chose my custom setting, sent it to start exporting and clicked the circle with the % and a pop up came showing what was happening in the background.
Thing is, it has about 30 bloody choices listed under my custom setting and wants to encode all of them. So when it finishes one it goes to the next. Anyone aware of this? Is this something I have done wrong or just another bug?

December 25, 2012 at 8:44 pm in reply to: Moving a clip around as we could using Motion panelThanks. I have been told about the transform button which allows me to move in the viewer. Is there any way of just having that permanently on – the ability to move in the viewer – the way we could have the wireframe thing permanently on in FCP7.
Sometimes it just seems like there are so many extra button pushes to do the same thing as before because before you could set things up to work the way you work. Here it seems so much is only temporarily on then you have to turn it on again when you use it again.

That’s a great start Gabriel, thanks. De clutters the event place. Shame the same can’t be done for Projects, especially as they are sequences and I tend to have a lot per project. I think that end is going to get messy.
In fact, is there any way in Projects Library of removing the thumbnails and having the project info on a single line. At the moment each project takes up 3 lines when all I need is the project (sequence) name. That way I can see up to about 20 at a time rather than 5.
What is this obsession with making everything all big and space hogging? Has it been designed with the chronically nearsighted as a big target demograph?
And still a bit annoying it doesn’t allow me to permanently hide my back up drive which has my projects on because every time i boot up the first time it has an error message telling me there are two versions of it.
Guess i’ll have to live with that but thanks for the other, a good start.
Thanks again, appreciated.

Cheers rick, that’s great, will have a gander and yes, i’m going to stick with it for a while and do a fair amount of work so investing at this stage to make FCPX run faster is going to pay off in the long run. The more I can avoid spinning balls and pregnant pauses in loading and responding to my wishes, the happier I will be.
Appreciate the input.

Cheers Rick.
my machine is no more than a year old so am sticking with it for the foreseeable future, plus I use two monitors and like to add Ram and change things internally (such as adding extra extra firewire ports etc., so not sure if you can do that with iMacs.
As for the graphics card, what would recommendations be and how much would they improve things and in what capacity.
Also, though I have 16GB of ram would more help or with my current graphics card would more make little difference?
Cheers
