Hey Theo,
I finally started to do this mask thing and of coz something goes wrong. I’ve read on compositing modes, masks both Vegas help and your notes, it still doesn’t work.
I have:
– The uppest track is Parent, in Multiply mode. Should contain black/white clip.
What clip? Should I create a black image in Photoshop? Sounds weird.
In Vegas Help there’s a picture. With a transparent oval/whatever form. How they got it?

– The both lower tracks are in alpha mode and are Child tracks. Hopefully here I’ve done right.

1)What is this particular fx effect? Can’t find among Video FX.2)Is it possible to make invisible/transparent the part of the upper video clip that I don’t want to interfere with the lower one?
For example, I want a person from the upper track be on the left side of the final picture while a person from the lower track would be seen on the right side. But I don’t want a horse, which the person from above holds to his right, appear and cover the person from the lower track who also stands on the right side.

I meant actually Cross Effect->Zoom but I tried your advice and after a few attempts it worked! Thank you.

The clips I use in my video are .wmv
I put them in Vegas as small films and work on them with effects inside the program.You are surely right, maybe the problem with the crushing lies in that my HD is 145GB of which 122GB used and only 22GB free.
I’ll reinstall my windows with first almost only Sony Vegas on HD and see if It works better, so I can at least finish this tortured video 🙂

I am thinking of reinstalling the system which maybe help cause as 24 GB of free space on my PC should be enough, shouldn’t it?
Then, I made an attempt to install Vegas on my extra drive with plenty of free space but it works even worse there 🙁 In addition to the reds the audio-track failed there.Now Vegas crushes every time I try to start playing the video closer to the last files as soon as I move the cursor over there after opening the program.
Maybe downloading Vegas 8.0 or any other compatible Vegas, and trying to open my video in it, will do any good..?
Dont’ know what might be done to save the video.. -

I will try to do the 1) again tonight and see if i get any “box”.
As for the 2) it is video files both, they placed on different tracks and are layered against one another due to the reduced opacity and size of the above one (Aragorn/Arwen)So, it’s not a still image.
I wonder if there any functions (even in your Vegas) that let to wipe out the hard outlines of the frame so is just faces seen against the background video file, and not the whole frame.
Might masks be helpful? Just like in Photoshop. I saw Vegas had them, too, though I had’t read on them yet if they could be any of help in solving my problem. -
1) if you mean a mouse cursor than it seems like the draging it back (a zigzaz line shows up) just crops the file till where i stop the cursor, but the speed remains just the same.
2) Just checked, it was “None”. So I changed it to “Premultiplied” as recommended in Help. I just didn’t know that transparancy connects to alpha, and where to search info.
Will have to study this part and probably will manage after that. Though if you have a quick idea what to try to do, I’d appreciate it of course.
