There is an integrated gpu which can run GUI, freeing 650m for CUDA.

The 650M should perform significantly faster than the 285. In theory. I would guess comparable to a gtx470.

I’m long done with that session. But will check tomorrow, it sounds like a goofy mistake I would make. 😉

Maybe toast. They don’t get much simpler than encore though. Try scenarist or blu-print out for size to see what complex is,

Did you install the CUDA driver in another user? Try rerunning the CUDA installer.

The 600 series have lots of cores but aren’t very good at raw CUDA performance. So 680 roughly on par with a 580 even though it has 3x the cores. So it’s not just a matter of the number of cores.

Walter, would love to add the q6000 to the test. Email me at js at JuanSalvo.com and I’ll send you a link to the benchmark. I’m really curious to see how it does.
As to the thermal/ reliability issues with the GTX, they do get hot, require good ventilation. I imagine in a case with poor airflow there would be issues with regards to longevity. I’ve worked with probably a dozen of these cards for 4 years or so now, and have only had one fail, while it was still under warranty. So that’s been my experience. I think in the cost benefit analysis the GTX is still the better value, though the 600 series may be changing that intentionally.

The only processing done on the CPU is the codec deco/encode. All image and color processing is done on a gpu. In your case the rocket is debayering the r3d so even that is done off the CPU. The q4000 is definately your bottle neck.

Don’t use the quadro 4000. It’s really quite slow.

It’s kind of funny, but I noticed something similar with my glasses. Turns out almost all prescription eyeglasses are made with polycarbonate lense, which tend to have a high chromatic aberration value.
My solution; I ordered a set of actual glass lenses, which I had to custom order online. It took longer, and cost a bit more.. plus I can’t really use them in any sort of active environment, as if they break it could send blinding shards of glass into my eyes. But they’re noticbly clearer and much more scratch resistant. I’m quite happy with them. Don’t know if that accounts for your difference, but it’s been helpful to me.
