10.7.4 breaks resolve (see numerous posts here) you need to download and install 8.2.1 beta 3.

Chad, Did you reinstall the NVidia drivers? The ones for 10.7.3 were broken and a new driver was put out to fix.
You need to make sure you install these driver:

Actually in linux ffmpeg has reversed engineered the ProRes codec (444 doesn’t work so well) so while I don’t think you can make ProRes out of the box.. you can make a dpx sequence or something, and then convert to prores on the linux station.

Very interested to hear more. Not too far back we tested the 680 in a windows resolve config and found it to be roughly on par to slightly behind the 580. So the AE results seemed to be in line with what I had seen then. Has there been any optimization in Resolve for the 680? Are you testing it on a PCIe3.0 system per chance?

The 590 is two seperate gpus. Don’t know about resolve as I could never get a resolve system to handle the power requirements of the 590 properly, but in my ae tests there is a notable gap in the performance to CUDA core ratio. May be due to memory bandwidth or perhaps to slower clock, or just inefficiency in distributing to two seperate devices. But if you can I would go with two 580 or maybe if Rohit recommends two 680s for resolve.

I doubt you’d be able to get a grade 1 monitor, unless in useless shape for that kind of money. But maybe something like a PVM-20L5? For a 8-900 bucks. Would be without the hd-sdi board of course. But u can feed analog hd component into it.
In many ways that would be better for grading than some of the many “affordable” LCD solutions. Hell better than some of the unaffordable LCD solutions. 🙂

I would recommend using BMD deck control app to capture the clips, as tape capture from Premiere is iffy,
