December 3, 2012 at 4:36 am in reply to: Re-Framed shots in RedCine X not coming through in ResolveIt’s normal. If you want to retain reframed you need to do it in editorial. But it’s easy enough to do the reframed directly in resolve. Plus you get the benefit of resolve’s scaling.

Render to a new folder… Preferably on a seperate volume for best performance. Then after render copy that Over to the avid media files under a fresh number “2”, “10”,”100″ whatever is available. Let avid scan the directory. Then import your new AAF, exported from resolve.

This is what the Linux Resolve configs were meant for.

Both. The GTX cards continue to be the best choice for resolve.

November 5, 2012 at 11:03 pm in reply to: GPU Choice for “Field Laptop” New nvidia K3000m gtx680m or AMD 7970m and standard candle v9 test…AMD is out of the question as it doesn’t work on PC resolve.
I’d check out the Resolve config guide. Don’t think they mention any laptops that would work on PC. Only laptop mentioned is MacBook Pro, which I’d recommend the Retina with a 1GB video ram.
As to the preference between 680M and K3000m… the 680 will almost certainly run rings around the K3000m in resolve. Of course the reverse is true for Maya. So pick which one matters to you more and then try it out.
There are no guarantees here. None of this configs are listed in the config guide. And I’ve never known anyone to successfully use them. But please let us know how it works out CJ!

Actually the R3D stuff is possible because RED added that function into the SDK. Would be nice if ARRI and Sony would do similar. Canon and BMDCC and Aaton are much easier as they record to image sequences… you could even do that manually.

October 25, 2012 at 8:57 pm in reply to: 8-core Mac 2008 w Rocket vs. 12 core 2010 no Red RocketIf you’re buying, I’d go with the beefier mac pro. Unless all you work with is RED footage. In which case I’d scringe desperately for more budget to get the beefier mac pro and RED ROCKET.
