Assuming Apple sticks with nvidia GPUs. (Fingers crossed)

Yep. Wrapper is an issue for resolve as well. This s why it require FCP installed, it’s using the same qt libraries that FCP is, in the case of that particular codec. Work around: could you convert through FCP or even p2 transfer utility maybe? All you’d need to do is rewrap as mov.

January 3, 2013 at 8:43 pm in reply to: convert cr to dng and import to resolve9

The problem here is Resolve looks at the JPG preview file to determine the format for the media. In the BMDCC camera for example the jpg embeded within the DNG is set to the full frame size. But the DNGs being made in lightroom are embedding thumbnail sized preview images, messing up the interpretation within resolve.

    Solution: ?

Afraid I don’t have one. Perhaps there is a way to define the size of the previews being generated by Lightroom, or a third party DNG converter that handles it the way Resolve likes, or maybe you can get the Resolve dev team to add it.

It’s a very good film, but I have to say I was disheartened by the work done on the DI. So many mistakes in the version I saw.

VFX cut off in the middle of a shot. Inconsistent balance within scenes. A closing credit crawl with a criminally thin stroke.

The film deserved much more love than it got.

Is you project set to 720p? How about you output image scaling? Frame rate playback is independent of project. I suggest a glance through the manual on config settings. This doesn’t sound like a bug to me. Just mismatched settings.

HD-SDI is still 8bit… so no doesn’t really make a difference. 8 bit also means c-log is a really bad idea. My advice, shoot on a real camera.

To be clear I mean specifically hd-sdi on the c300. Obviously the HD-sdi spec supports many more bit depths.

Mark me down for as a major “Not a fan” of the C300.. the 8bit image is really limiting. The cam is noise and the footage is uninspiring. It’s a step up from DSLRs for sure. But not much more than that. Particularly frustrating as there are real cameras in the same price range.

Reminds me of the awfulness of the af100. 🙁

Sure. It’s not quite as high performing as a solo 3gb 580. But it’s pretty close.

[Eric Sternberger] “he dreamcolor is in the same price-range as a FSI-Monitor, which is a “real” monitor. “

This is a really good point. The dreamcolors are also notoriously flaky. And just frankly not a very good choice.
