Fast Import does the something. But I suspect faster and in fewer steps.

You could try a fast import in avid then use the AVID mxf, which DaVinci can see.

In all likelihood that video just did a bunch of edits. One quicker was of doing it is laying one shot over the other and then using the razor tool to cut holes in the shot on top. If you want to do it back on forth in a fixed number of frames you can use the blink filter. You could even keyframe the on/off duration to change the rate of cutting.

Have you considered using media express with apple remote desktop? If all the mac mini have the same display settings and application interface locations you could just use one remote desktop session to control all of them simultaneously.

The update will sometimes reinstall the KEXT. Did you re-remove it after the os update? Additionally I would do the KEXT power management modification steps as suggested to re-enable power management as the card will draw a significant amount of power constantly if not managed.

I doubt they’ll ever support tc over 9pin. Pretty sure it’s just there for source side control. The hyperdeck functions quite well as a VTR attached to FCP or AVID. I think the only TC source they’ll enable will be RP188 over HD-SDI. Or at least that’s what’s implied by the tech specs on the product site.

Yes, you’d have to sync all the cameras. Just like with any other multicam shoot.
