I have a Dnx Seq. Quicktime wrapped .mov made in Avid on a PC based system. Resolve does not open this file. Is there anyway to modify this file to use? I have converted in QuickTime losing time code and that converted file works but after sending it back there were problems. Was just curious if there is a workaround for this. The codec on the .mov is AVdn.

You could try a fast import in avid then use the AVID mxf, which DaVinci can see.

You can get a fully functional 30day trial of Media Composser, BTW.

Here’s how I’ve been doing it:

Use “Link to AMA file” in Media Composer to bring the QT file in
Select the clip and consolidate it. I believe this just rewraps the file as an MXF.
After it’s done consolidating, right click the .new file and choose “reveal file”
Move your file to a convenient location and add to your media pool

Is it licensing cost that makes dnxhd quicktimes unavailable?

Fast Import does the something. But I suspect faster and in fewer steps.

Thanks for all your help, I have Avid 5 just brought in the file and then used the MXF file it generated back to Resolve. Exported Dnx back to editor all worked great. I think next time we will try AAF and see how that flies, again thanks for your help.

Is Resolve able to use DNxHD files created by the HyperDeck Shuttle with the new firmware that allows the video and audio files to be wrapped in a .mov file?
