Can you tell us a bit more?
What editing system are you using? How r you conforming? What steps are you taking to render, etc?
Is the problem that you are having just that the qt file doesn’t look like the grade you did inside of the resolve GUI? Are you looking at it on an external monitor?

Hi Terrence,
It was the smpte / interop switch over. Particularly on the Dolby server, as we tested on various others and it was fine. I got burned pretty bad on that one (really, really embarrassing) and so haven’t looked at OpenDCP again. This issue may have been dealt with since, but I haven’t even tried. To be honest, using openDCP isn’t worth the risk to me, better to use commercial solutions with relationships to the server manufacturers.
With regards to the broken smpte implementations, you’re probably right, problem is exhibitors and server manufacturers have been painfully slow in updating these.

The 170w is FANTASTIC! And in terms of gamut actually surpasses it’s big brother. That said its small size is probably the biggest issue. But if you are using it with a plasma, you should be good,
Jose, both of those are great choices. I also personally like the Sony PVM OLED monitors. But not for clients, just operator. Narrow viewing angle.

I’ve used openDCP in the past and have had major compatibility problems.
Someone looking to roll their own dcp obviously won’t be grading in DCi space. I hope they have a properly calibrated 709 monitor, otherwise everything else is pointless.
For colorspace transforms I’d actually recommend AE, particularly if you’re going the freebie route. There are a lot of great tutorials on this. But basically you grade 709 limited or full your choice, just know which. Then export out a qt. bring it into ae and using the interpret menu, define its colorspace, either 709 limited or full. Create a new comp with it, set your comp colorspace to DCi xyz then render out to an image sequence, and proceed with the dcp.
There are some not terribly expensive commercial software packages, that make much more standard and reliable dcps and will also do the colorspace conversion for you. I would strongly recommend one of these.

Problems are dependent on the exact configuration. But generally they are few, and have more to do with os, driver, software version issues.

I answered in the other forum as well, so this is double posted.
Premiere cs5.5 and under needs to be connected to the card to benefit from it. However this may change in cs6. If you dont need killer speed you can use davinci with just one card.

Plasma. Vt25/vt30 if you can find it used. Or a vt50. Though for that price you could get a professional monitor for just a little more.
You could try to find it used.
At home I have a 50pz800u which is several years old, and I just checked it, it was nearly perfect 709.
Made me happy to see that.
On the issue of desktop calibration. I have zero faith in them, I’ve never seen a desktop image close enough to a calibrated monitor for me to trust it. Like I said, if you grade on a desktop, you’re just grading for that desktop.
You’d probably get a broader set of opinions in the LITE forum, as it is geared more towards non-standard installations.
