You will definitely need this bottle to be 3D, not a 2D image of a bottle. Do you have access to 3D software? If you’re using AE CC then Cinema 4D lite is all you need. You will need to know very basic modeling and texturing, but as it is basically just a cylinder it’s not extremely advanced. But you will need to model the bottle, texture it properly, light it to match the scene, have a solid camera track, and then fake a shadow.

It’s definitely possible but as others have said, it will be MUCH easier to re-shoot, and will likely look many times better.

Once you have one CC Split effect in place and working properly, precompose that layer (along with the corresponding audio) and move all the effects to the new composition. Then apply another CC Split effect. Repeat as many times as necessary.

Generally, if there are any issues with multiple effects on a single layer, precomposing fixes them.

“Connect layers” is a free script from motion boutique that would be very helpful to you. You select the layers that you want to connect, run the script, then a line is drawn that connects them, and the line automatically follows the layers wherever you animate them. Very time saving. They are also shape layers so you can change stroke width, color, etc

I know this post was years ago, but for anyone potentially seeing this thread with the same issues, try moving any 3D nulls to the top of the layer order (or perhaps just under any 2D layers?) I read somewhere else that this fixed the problem for someone

Thanks for the tip Todd! Out of curiosity, what is the purpose of showing cache indicators? When might it benefit me to have them shown?

I see what you’re talking about and I can see how it would be potentially distracting. I haven’t shot with the Flaat_12 profile specifically, but I have shot with some other ones that flatten the image (Technicolor CineStyle and another one I think.) While shooting flat so you have more room in post is an ideal situation, I ended up finding it to be a bad idea on DSLR’s. With an 8-bit color depth on highly compressed H.264 footage, the footage always falls apart in several different ways when any color is applied.

The picture style I use now is the Lotus Film Picture style

It costs a few dollars but well worth it. I like it as it gives a little bit of a film look right out of the camera, and leaves a little wiggle room for color but not too much is needed.

  • I read it your post that you linked to. I just had a foggy memory of what I read 🙂
