Newbie on CC, and thanks for any heads up.

I have been using After Effects for a while, but seems like my color picker is messed up when in 8bpc settings.

I am used to having the right vertical display show the entire color spectrum and then the colors in the large window for selection being based on range by the right slider. Now, I do not see the entire range on the right vertical strip, and hunting for colors is a pain in the rump ( I want it to behave like photoshop which I am used to ). I understand if you change the color settings in the upper right pane info palette, it will change based on bit depth. Even if I set it at 8bpc, I can use the scrubber and get numbers well above 255 and below zero.

Is this normal, I don’t remember it behaving like this before.

    Thanks in advance.

I’ve been using AE for 11 years and actually did the same thing with the color picker on Friday…and it took me an hour to figure out what I did.

In the color picker, make sure the radio style button on H is clicked, then all will be normal. In the Hue, Sat, and Brightness section at top.

    🙂

Whew! Thanks for this. I’ve been scratching my head for a day over this. I think my 18-month-old son clicked my mouse by accident and screwed the color picker up.

It’s funny how disconcerting it is to have things not work properly in the software you live in every day!
