Not sure about the error you are having. I’m sure other can be more of a help. However,if you do recapture and the in point remains the same, you can do a replace edit on those clips in the timeline as opposed to relinking everything and having to adjust. Just an idea.

I would wait a week or two before purchasing anything. Don’t handycap yourself with soon to be obsolte hardware when the Intels come out.

Well I agree they are separate. But it would be nice to have say , two separate 250 GB HDs. That way if you want to reformat one of the drives, or one of the drives fails you will only lose one OS. I know you can reformat a partition when reinstalling windows instead of a drive, but I just feel like its cleaner to keep it separate. Plus with Vista coming soon, anyone who installs XP will likely be reinstalling and reformating when vista comes out.

Check your sequence settings and change the Field dominance to none. That will probably solve your issue.

  • On the same note, a friend of mine just pointed out to me that you can’t even change the base time code of your sequence from anything other than 00:00:00. In a pro program this should be an option. If I am wrong about this, please let me know.

Mike, not sure why you are harping on this “experienced editor” thing, but I agree that isn’t a bad idea. Though I regularly work in Final Cut, Smoke, and now premiere.

When I say rendering, I mean from After Effects.

To clarify, I may or may not be using DV footage. If I am, mixing DV footage and material completely generated in AE, what would the best method be. If I do an uncompressed 10 bit project, do I need any type of 3rd party hardware or software for real time editing using PP 2.0. If not, I think that would be my best bet. If I’m not mixing with DV I assume, if I don’t need 3rd party, then that is my best bet. If I am mixing with DV, you guys tell me. Is Microsoft DV the codec I would render to if I wanted real time with a DV project? If I want real time with 10 bit project, am I rendering AVI 10 bit Uncompressed?

Does anyone know how to do this without cutting all tracks as mentioned in the previous post (and without using the razor tool)

My final output format is DVD, however, I do want quality to be as close to broadcast as possible.
