Text looks funny
Posted by Bexineffex on June 9, 2006 at 4:45 pmNot funny ha ha, but funny weird. What’s up with that? It looks okay in the viewer when I’m creating titlecards with the text generator, but once it’s rendered it looks pixelated and nasty. Any suggestions?

June 9, 2006 at 5:14 pmTell us about your monitoring set up, and your computer specs and which versions of FCP, QT, & the OS you are using.

June 9, 2006 at 6:08 pmCheck your sequence settings and change the Field dominance to none. That will probably solve your issue.

June 11, 2006 at 3:30 pmWe still need to know if you are using an external video monitor or if you are trying to judge this quality on the computer screen.
If you are trying to judge it on the computer screen, that’s the problem, and you probably do not have an issue with your text. The canvas, by design, only shows about 1/4 resolution. True quality can only be assessed on an external video monitor, or by exporting a QT movie and looking at it in High Quality playback. External monitor is less time consuming.
In a pinch, even a TV will work. Check out the manual for proper external audio and video monitors.
If you are monitoring externally, it might be that you are mixing QT 7 with Panther. Panther and QT 7 don’t play well together. Your options there may be to upgrade your OS and FCP, or to revert back to QT 6.5.
