I’m having a similar issue, although the only alternative codec I have installed is QT Lite 4.1.0.
The interesting thing is that in the same project other .mp4/.mov are not flipped.
They all use AVC/AAC, so I’m not sure why these specific clips are flipped.
It’s almost as though Encore doesn’t read the orientation metadata.
Premiere Pro does (as do most players).

  • As a long-time Vegas user, I have the same irritations.

    Good eye…
I didn’t notice the numbers, after the decimal.
I just saw 29 and went on.
It was done with a tablet.
I let the kiddo just run around to do some b-roll.
    Hehehe…

  • [John Rofrano] “It sounds like you may have added a Media FX instead of an Event FX. If you apply the FX to the Media, it will be applied in every single Event that the media is used. Vegas Pro doesn’t use the term “clip” so I can only assume that you are splitting Events on the Timeline. Make sure you are not adding the FX to the Media. You want to add them to just the split Event. (strange terminology, I know. This is because Vegas was an audio editor before it was a video editor so it uses very generic terms which confuse everyone)”

    That is exactly what happened.
    I’ve been using Media FX.
    Thanks, for the help.

  • I’m using Vegas Pro 13 and I do…
    File – Render As – MainConcep AVC/AAC – Internet HD 720p.
It renders as a .mp4 file.

If I open Vegas, import the files, and drag them to the timeline, they all look correct.
If I open DVD Architect and import the files, they are upside down.

I’m sure that rendering, in Vegas, and then importing that rendered file would be fine.
That’s a huge amount of extra work and time, though, when I just want to burn the clips to a DVD.
I can do that, in minutes, with Authoring Works.

Having done this with multiple programs and testing over multiple days, I can’t say enough how much I like Authoring Works.
I’ve been using it, for years, in other areas.
I just figured out how to make custom menus, yesterday, now I like it even more.

    That’s the strange thing.
    Vegas shows the orientation correctly.
    It’s DVD architect that doesn’t.
I assumed they would both work, the same way.

Well, I ended up using TMPGEnc Authorworks 4.
It really surprises me that such an old program does a better job.

March 4, 2015 at 2:34 pm in reply to: Major Amtren Flexwriter II problems

    Hello…
I figure it would be better to resurrect an old thread (with subscribers) than start a new one.

I, as well, have a FlexWriter that is having problems.
Interestingly enough, I’ve never had an issue with the printer.
Actually, I’ve been using the printer (stand-alone) for years.
The robotics started acting up, so I just boxed it (after many support attempts) and used a manual duplicator.

Well, I thought I would try to get it working.
I pulled everything out and reassembled it.
What is happening is that the gripper randomly drops the disc.
It could happen when it’s getting a new disc from the input pile, taking the disc to the drive, or taking the disc to the printer.
I haven’t, successfully, made it through the diagnostics.
I thought the 6-pin phone cord (arm cable) might be the issue, but wiggling it doesn’t cause the gripper to activate.

    Any ideas?
I’d like to use it (obviously, that’s why I bought it).
It’s not really worth paying for shipping, if someone wanted to buy it for parts.
    Hehehe…
