just thought id let you know that you were right 🙂
its faster to drag the footage into a new comp, create a new solid, past the info onto that solid, go to the first keyframe of the shape data on the solid, trim the comp, then copy the now trimmed version back into my original comp.

September 13, 2012 at 3:14 pm in reply to: Option to paste mocha tracking data is greyed out??Probably not your problem, but maybe try to make sure you are currently over an active layer when you want to export? in my experience if you are on a frame where no tracking has taken place then the option is greyed out

Yeah i thought that was gunna be the only way.
thanks for the advice. i think its probably easier and less hassle to drag the footage then sync them. still it would be nice to have the option to start the shapedata from an in point.
alas, you cant have everything.
thanks mate. much aapprecieted

Thanks for the info. helps to clear things up
however i still cant see how i can line up my shape data with my already ‘clipped’ footage in after effects other then drag it. i can select before or after KF’s but i can only delete the correct ones once ive dragged it into place right?
i guess i could render out the file but it kinda defeats the purpose of ‘track in mocha’
sorry if im missing something,

thanks for the advice guys
the problem isnt the clean plate itself, its essentially a copy paste problem
if i copy the tracking info on frame one then the clean plate is not aligned,
if i go to the frame i made for the clean plate, then copy the cornerpin, the track is off.
its a really silly problem with a simple solution im sure, jsut cant think of it lol

Thanks guys, it was really successful, the intermediate stage solved my noise problem, and i have key correct, so used the spill killer for a nice finish.
thanks again

April 30, 2012 at 8:19 pm in reply to: Removing someones eye. & adding maggots (lovely i know)Awesome thanks for the advice, I have a follow up question
I am familiar with blender, and could probably pull of maggot meshes and animations, I also have particular, I haven’t heard of free form so I’ll look into that,
How do u picture the workflow for this piece?
Here is how I see it now
Track face with mocha,
Use free form/warps and 2d images to create an eye socket
Pin the element to the face, using multiple tracks if necessary. If I’m right this is the somewhat easier section as long as the movement is straight forward, which I believe it is.
So what process do u picture for getting a 3d model of maggots looking like its on the talents face? How would u animate it in 3d application to fit an ugly on the footage?
I really appreciate your advice
Thanks

THanks for your response,
Ok thats fair enough, well im looking for a particular transition somewhat along the lines, though by no means restricted to that newish film darkest hour. the way things disintergrate that fast,
but its already been shot, and im not using 3d, just simple roto, clean plate, & experimentation,
So, yeah thats kind of my position, im looking forward to experimenting looking for different effects, but im just looking for some help kick starting it. if you guys would/could help with that i would be really grateful.
thanks for your time
