  • Tracking a clean plate with mocha

ok ive done this a million times but im a little bit rusty

i have to remove a camera from a mirror,

so i find the best frame, take a still, take it into photoshop and build a clean plate

    so far so good,

i take the footage into mocha, and track the mirror, so far so good,

now, What i need to do is pin the clean plate to the mirror,

if i was to do this with a null, i would align the clean plate at the correct frame, then parent to the tracking null

however i need to corner pin the clean plate itself, the problem is that in order to do that i need to be on the first frame of the tracking data, not the ‘aligned’ frame, if i copy the track in then the plate is offset.

silly problem, but im missing a step in the process lol.

anyway, if anyone gets what i mean feel free to advise

    thanks
    JOsh

I’m not sure I understand, but did you click “Align Surface” on the “clean plate frame” in mocha before copying and pasting to AE?

From your description, I believe your issue is in mocha, go to the frame number that you created your clean plate on. Then use the align frame function to make your surface a full frame.

Than in AE go to the first frame of comp and past the exported mocha Corner Pin data.

This should work, so if you are following these steps I think there is something missing.

    thanks for the advice guys

the problem isnt the clean plate itself, its essentially a copy paste problem

if i copy the tracking info on frame one then the clean plate is not aligned,

if i go to the frame i made for the clean plate, then copy the cornerpin, the track is off.

its a really silly problem with a simple solution im sure, jsut cant think of it lol

Again – I believe the issue is on the frame that you are selecting “align surface. It might make the most sense to get in touch with mocha support. https://www.imagineersystems.com/contact_form
