Another thing to think about, in line with David’s answer about the possibility of pirated software, is to ask the seller if he will transfer the licenses of the software to you. Here’s the scoop on doing that:

If the seller says no, or hems and haws, you can rest assured that the software is bogus, and you probably can’t trust the seller for any other problems which might arise after the sale.
You’ll probably want to spring for some additional RAM as well.

How successfully you can do this depends on whether the throat clearing is stepping on the other person’s audio, and whether there’s an example of the throat clearing which is clean, with no other audio going on. If you can get a clean sample of the throat clearing, you may be able to do a sample, and then remove the sampled audio from the rest of the clip (if the clearing is pretty identical across the board. Sure – create your title in Photoshop, then cut it up (in Photoshop) to separate layers, import into AE, and have your way with it.

Since I’ve been a 3DS Max user for over 10 years, C4D feels very foreign to me. I don’t find anything intuitive, but that’s because I’ve used Max for so long.
I also own Element 3D, and I use Max to model anything I can’t throw together in Element, then send the OBJs over. I like the rendering of Element, and find it quicker and easier to get a good final look in Element. I think that for those who are accustomed to using the full package of C4D, the fact that it’s now an internal engine is a plus. For me, not so much. I also found that many of the C4D models that you find out there on the web for free, have problems when you try to import them into AE. I’m just as happy building from scratch in Max, and doing 3D text and titles right in Element 3D.
