Alien Opening Title Sequence – AE/P

Notice how the word “Alien” fades in bit by bit gradually? I would like to replicate that effect only slightly fast. Any ideas as to how?

Sure – create your title in Photoshop, then cut it up (in Photoshop) to separate layers, import into AE, and have your way with it.

I am sort of a beginner with the Creative Cloud programs. How exactly would I go about doing that? What steps would I take and what tools would I use?
