I don’t notice your mentioning “continuously rasterize” in your question – this is the key to my keeping my type sharp as a tack at any magnification in AE. I generally create my type either natively in AE, in Illustrator, or in Photoshop, depending on the project, and what is client-supplied.

I was only using the Theremin in terms of the technique in playing it: the grand piano of course has 88 keys, and the theramin, in essence, has one key. I was equating the multiple tracks in a “normal” NLE (notice normal in quotes, no aspersions cast), as opposed to the theremin: single “key”, as many notes as you want. As a matter of fact, the Theremin, since it has no keys, per se, has the ability to play an infinite number of notes, and the pitch generated is based upon the hand’s distance from the antenna (no contact at all with the instrument).
I was a professional musician for many years, and it is very interesting how that field has changed. When electronic synths first came into being, the musicians union banned their use at union gigs, because the synth had the potential to put many analogue musicians out of work (horn and string players especially). There are many pianists these days who still insist on fully acoustic pianos – for example, Paul McCartney (not that he’s a pianist, but he’s pretty good on the piano) uses Yamaha Grands on tour and in the studio. Just as with NLEs, one’s choice of tool is purely dependent on their preferences. There just is no right or wrong choice, whether you started out cutting film, or learning FCPX.

From what I’ve read here over time, it seems to me as if track-based editing is the grand piano, and trackless editing is the theramin. Just another lousy metaphor to consider…

Sorry I misunderstood the question. Maybe a batch file that you run periodically, or that you set up to run once a week, or more often, depending on how fast your c:/ drive gets clogged up. The rendered file will not loop on its’ own. It must be set up in the playback machine or software that plays it to do this. All you can do on the rendering end is make sure that the start and end are able to blend seamlessly – this could be by doing what’s called a dissolve loop, or, if you might have a plugin that will cause the graphic you create to loop seamlessly.
At any rate, look to the playback once you deliver the file to be the looping mechanism. DVDs can be programmed to continuously loop, but that’s not without pitfalls (sometimes there’s a slight glitch when the loop point is reached). What I will often do is create a series of loops as long as the client needs them – say the actual loop is 2 minutes – I would create and render a file which is maybe 20 minutes long. Enough to cover any glitches which might occur at a mechanical loop point (DVD or software playback).
You don’t say anything about the playback medium the client plans on using, so it’s impossible to be more than general about it.

The video card is not as important as your RAM and CPU in After Effects. The Studio 1 site has a lot of good information on how the video card (especially NVidia cards can be useful.

I’m pretty sure that it’s a simple matter, in both AE and PPro, to go into the settings file and change the drive where the Media Cache goes. Take a look at this video and see if it solves the issue:
