The 3-D Glasses effect is an 8 bit effect, if your final product is to be rendered out high quality (as opposed to being for the web etc.) then you may want to not use 8 bit effects as a rule because it will give you artifacting etc, that might be what’s happening..

One think to remember is that Tracking is the space between the all the letters, while Kerning is for only specific letter pair combinations, like a capital T next to a lowercase “o” might look like it is farther apart then other letter pair combinations.

“Kerning is used primarily to fit capital letters, such as T, V, W, and Y, closer to some other capital letters on either side (especially A) and to some minuscule letters on the right side, such as the combination Ro. It is also used to fit a period (full stop) closer to these and to F, as well as the minuscule letters y and r. Some other combinations are AC, FA, and OA.”

Also try ratcheting up the Motion Blur and see if that can conceal the problem. Hope that is helpful..

You could do some math and decrease the thickness proportionally, (might need to manage the collapse transformations option for that layer)..

Rendering the lossless copy from AE and then using one of the dedicated compressors — Compressor, Squeeze, & Cleaner– is definitely a useful and efficient workflow for most situations, Mr. Rabinowitz speaks to this here:

Yes those Effects and Presets are great, there are lots of synthetic sprites and backgrounds, use Bridge to preview them all, and yes export whatever you like from Motion as a QT movie and bring it in to AE as well..

If you are using Premiere you need to select the DV Widescreen Project type and it automatically is set for 1.2 pixel aspect ratio..

Also if you read Mr Laronde’s post a couple weeks back he suggests playing the clip back a few times in RAM preview and it may sync up by the third pass or so..

Dave that effect is not available for AE 5 but you can get a free trial of the latest AE at Adobe.com for the purposes of your current needs..

Try duplicating the layer, then use levels or one of the many other color correctors to force the darks to black and the lights to white, then use that layer with the first layer and invoke the ancient art of TRANSFER MODES.
