  • Maintaining Transparency Using 3D Glasses Effect?

    Hello,
I’m attempting to create a composition with multiple layers which have large transparent areas, When trying to apply the 3D glasses effect and using balanced red blue option, it fills all transparency with black. I tried using luma key, keylight, and transfer modes to eliminate the black, however I can never get a good clean edge so it disrupts the 3D effect. The only way i can see around this is to pre-compose all layers and apply it to the pre-comp but then you can add depth by using varying convergences, so all it looks like is the hole screen is kind of popping out which is not the desired effect. Does anyone know how to fix this? You would think there would be a way, as you need separate layers with transparencies to achieve good 3D depth. If this can not be fixed are there any plug-ins available for 3D glasses? Thanks,
    -Keir

The 3-D Glasses effect is an 8 bit effect, if your final product is to be rendered out high quality (as opposed to being for the web etc.) then you may want to not use 8 bit effects as a rule because it will give you artifacting etc, that might be what’s happening..

Is a higher than 8 bit version of this effect available? or perhaps the same could be done manually by offsetting colorized duplicate layers with a low opacity?
