Bought one for fun at NAB last year… in fact its what I am typing this message with. For the most part I completely ignore it. It just looks pretty and about all I use are the JKL keys and command save/ add node, advanced viewer… if I have to even look at a key, to determine if its a shortcut or not, or coordinate pressing several keys at once, it has already lost its value.

The safest option is to always create your own system-based AAF with the proper Avid MediaFiles/MXF/1 (or other number, if you feel the need) file name convention. I have found over the years that trying to use the editor’s AAF almost 100% of the time results in a corrupt re-write or an abrupt exit to the desktop upon AAF export in File… Export… mode.

And occasionally you want to “tee” something up in a preliminary node to hit it squarely down the node tree, like pushing a green-screen in a parallel node, pulling the matte and feeding it into an isolation/qualifier “alpha”…

Yes.
HIghlight the clips you wish to copy, right click “Copy”, position cursor on target timeline, “Paste”.
Probably does not corrupt an XML workflow, but I can’t guarantee robust round-tripping with AAF.

There are a number of gamer-forum discussions (not just Resolve) about over-extending the motherboard power supplies to run the hungrier GPUs. The general consensus is that even if it is technically possible, it comes with the risk that you will overtax the system power supply leading to its premature death. Its worth thinking about a small external power supply — which is pretty much what the only option is for those of us who also wanted to add a second GPU in the Titan class. It still pulls enough to sometimes brown-out the USB busses on a MacPro 5,1.

How refreshing!
Multicam groups are cousins of nested sequences, which are likewise forbidden and at least troublesome.
Also be aware that “bridged” clips, that is– some forms of highly-compressed codecs that will break up takes into linked files will only see the first file and then will not reproduce the rest of the take. Its a hangover similar to the “looping bug” that we had in early versions of RED RAW when importing long takes into Apple COLOR.jPo

Thinking about “Super Speedway”, “Titanic”, the surf movie… “Utimate Wave”, there was one shot off Hawaii showing the big waves that required a jet-ski tow… I did some 16mm dailies for that one… more like the “making of…” b-roll and views from the helicopters. Pretty spiffy.

There is a lot of wobble room, and they are sadly, all valid in one way or another for something, just not everything.
Also you should be aware that there are values that can be generated in some colorspaces that cannot be reproduced in others — some 10-bit colors just don’t exist in 8-bit codecs… but as touched upon, different applications follow different rules as to whether internal profiles are observed or not for display. And that brings us back to …doh. You know, the monitor and however the values are being mangled by the OS rules, by whatever whim the software engineers are on today that are obviously a better idea than the people who actually make up the standards.

The manual deals with naming conventions in the Delivery chapter. There are a lot of options, including a dailies flow that accounts for exactly your intended workflow.
