    Hi everyone ,
can I use GTX 780 classified in mac pro 2009?
I’m not sure if the mac pro’s PSU is enough.
and the GTX 780 classified has dual 8 pin , but mac pro 2009 is 6 pin x 2
can i use the 6 pin to 8 pin adapter ?
    Thanks so much.

[HongWei Li] “I’m not sure if the mac pro’s PSU is enough.”

There are a number of gamer-forum discussions (not just Resolve) about over-extending the motherboard power supplies to run the hungrier GPUs. The general consensus is that even if it is technically possible, it comes with the risk that you will overtax the system power supply leading to its premature death. Its worth thinking about a small external power supply — which is pretty much what the only option is for those of us who also wanted to add a second GPU in the Titan class. It still pulls enough to sometimes brown-out the USB busses on a MacPro 5,1.
