If a keyframed transition is not an easy thing to do… for example if there is a Power Window or a track / stabilizer that isn’t appropriate for either the incoming or exiting scene… You can add a razor cut in the middle of the “dissolve” on the Edit page, then add a discrete cross dissolve overtop of it. You’re just splitting the clip in a more controllable way than the auto-detect.
It’s not ideal as sometimes your node tree won’t migrate linearly between the two color treatments, but that’s the limitation.

I have had a healthy respect for Ikegami cameras and monitors ever since I had to compete against them while doing a stint for a rival Japanese manufacturer. You don’t see them much anymore in the general population, but I have to say that of the larger presences at trade shows, theirs are among the few installations where the monitors and cameras actually match.

You are not getting the answers you wanted from the BlackMagic forum?
First of all, not sure why you have a cropping and aspect ratio problem. If the originals are all SD-NTSC, for example, why are you not working in that aspect ratio, resolution and pixel aspect ratio so that there is a one-to-one correspondence between the clip material and the timeline settings?
If you need to fit the final 4×3 within a 16×9 display format (I suspect this is at the core of your situation) then there are ways to either mask or “blank” your active picture area for a consistent letter/pillar-box.

Assuming you used an eyedropper secondary qualification, you create a roto-shape power window and subtract it from the HSL qualifier by using the invert controls found on the right-hand side of the power window dialog. From there: tracking, clip/frame animation, blurring, feathering, adding more tracked and animated power windows if the foreground object changes shape in an organic way… (you are building a puppet)

Wish the language was not so Crayola oriented, but whatever. You are trying to sail a 12-foot boat across the ocean. Your only choice is to try to make the ocean smaller.
Switch the project setting to a 3840×2160 timeline; the output to HD (you can find all of these in the Project Settings dialog) and maybe even do some research on editing with proxies (choose something like ProRes 422Proxy, as light as possible without resorting to a Long-GOP codec) and then go the re-link route for the final render. The grade will stay with you through the resolution jumps — Resolve is resolution-independent.
At least you aren’t falling into the LUT trap, yet. I gave up trying to reverse-engineer the LOG transfer function with my own correction when you get all that for free by adopting an ACES cct Color Management strategy. Also more universal in interpretation when exporting for other exhibition formats.
