Yes, and I have a trouble ticket in.
My speed ramps are coming back tagged as “Variable” and I suspect recalculated to a rate that suggests Resolve is modifying the XML with a % reconciling the original speed with that speed applied to the entire master clip… or something.

There is a thread on the main Resolve forum discussing calibration of LCD grade monitors with the possibility of using plasma displays. If you can stay with it, you will discover that there is an opinion that plasma displays (that all feature dynamic contrast adjustment) are not suitable for use as grade monitors at all.

For starters, the Q4000 is the lamest CUDA GPU you can install.
Is there a point (removing nodes) where your playback/render speeds start improving?
What is the codec — ProRes, H264, HDV, DVC, uncompressed 10-bit… etc.? These can affect CPU pass-through and bitrate to and from the source drive.
And, of course, the sustained bit transfer rate from the source drive… A Rugged LaCie FireWire connection is not really ideal, for example.

Then trying to do this on a MacPro mainframe will be frustrating, especially with the ATI card. There are also some advantages to even running the Q4000 as the UI GPU and a better CUDA card as the grade processor. Best is an XPander with as many CUDA cores as you can afford… the cards offered as options in the previous threads are not idle threats. If you are running 4K R3D RAW, then unless you intend to operate at quarter-res-good, then a Rocket card will also be in your future.
The config guide is a real source of distilled wisdom and should not be ignored if you want repeatable results.

Not completlely sure of your step-by-step procedure here, but do understand that COLOR by itself cannot generate an original XML file, it only modifies the one sent from FCP, which was created on the “Send to Color” command.
If the roundtrip XML is failing, it may be due to a corrupt operation that was either exported from FCP which COLOR tolerated but cannot return, or you attempted to edit the COLOR timeline, which is extremely risky.If you created a new COLOR project with no associated FCP XML, that roundtrip workflow does not exist.

Looks like there may be a difference in the tagged profile metadata that determines which scaling is applied incoming to FCP. 0-1023 is obviously different from 64-940, and of course the gamma correction will be applied differently between those two endpoints.

I got a timeline recently that had 23.98P material improperly ingested from pulldown removal that had mixed segmentation every fourth frame. Interlace. What a mess. But it ‘should’ look a little weird on a progressive monitor. Can you invoke a ‘remove jitter’ preference?
