If you use Compressor and DVD Studio Pro then it should work fine. What I do is I edit it an XDCAM timeline native to the EX1 footage. Then I export the final cut as a self-contained clip using FILE-EXPORT-QUICKTIME MOVIE. Then I drop that HD clip in Compressor using the 90 minute DVD preset and then author the DVD with DVD Studio Pro.

The quality is surprising for standard definition as you can tell the depth and color that the EX1 delivers.

Does the footage work right after you import it?

If the file doesn’t play right after you import it then it probably that section of the tape that has a problem.

Not sure exactly why this is happening but the only thing I can think of is sometimes when you add a filter to a clip it automatically adds another filter to fix something. Sometimes it will add a filter to adjust upper and lower fields when adding certain filters to certain formats.

Just check your filters tab in the viewer window and if FCP did add another filter it should be right above the one you added. It may have added one without you needed which may be what is causing the blur.

I can’t think of anything else that would be causing that.

Thank you so much!

I already tried to render it section by section and I found the area that happens it seems that FCP didn’t like one of my “Editor’s Toolkit” clips.

Before I read the reply I brought everything into Motion and exported everything out as an MOV file. Now I have all of my elements in one clip in FCP. Hopefully that will help when I add more layers to my project from now on. If I come to that problem again I will definitely try to find the corrupt clip like you said. That should save me the 55 minutes of export time from MOTION.

As for the CPU usage, as you said, I didn’t find anything about tweaking it.
