Not rendering after you add the filter. If the line above the footage goes from purple to bright green or orange or red…you need to render it.

Not sure exactly why this is happening but the only thing I can think of is sometimes when you add a filter to a clip it automatically adds another filter to fix something. Sometimes it will add a filter to adjust upper and lower fields when adding certain filters to certain formats.

Just check your filters tab in the viewer window and if FCP did add another filter it should be right above the one you added. It may have added one without you needed which may be what is causing the blur.

I can’t think of anything else that would be causing that.

    Good Luck!

It is footage imported as DV from a panasonic 100a. I have also had the same problem when I imported a timelapse I assembled on quicktime. When I rotated the image it when fuzzy. It is a light fuzz almost liked a layer of gauz.

Thanks. It also does fuzzes when I use the motion controller. Thanks for trying. That is a good tip regardless.

    Hi John,
Unless you intend to print back to DV tape you should use a codec better than DV for rendering. DV50 or up.
Another thing: Don’t use the “Rotate” of the Motion tab in FC.
The Rotate have a limitation. Whenever you use it all the Motion effects are rendered in “linear” fashion, so the lower quality available in FC.
Whenever you want to rotate something use the the 3D filter or, better, get the “Better 3D” from Andy. Free from Internet.
    Cheers,
    rafael
