    I’m using video taken from a Sony HD 1080i. My main problem is that from the very beginning when I select a new project, it makes everything 4:3. I’m not really sure if thats exactly what it’s doing but it’s definitely taking everything and squishing it and not showing me a 16:9 aspect ratio.

    It is set to square and the “correct for aspect ratio” is not selected and it still doesn’t fix it. I also tried opening a DVC Pro HD 1080i project and it does the same thing. When I open a 720p project it’s fine.

    Thanks this helped. I also rendered out a quicktime file of my project from motion and changed the settings to 16:9 so that FCP would recognize it that way.
