‘Mute all video’ is in Options (Menu Bar), not in Preferences.

press F1 or go to Menu Bar ‘Help’ to get online Help.

Preview control
Controls the loudness of media played through the Project Media, Trimmer, Explorer, or Media Manager window.

Do you have the Split Screen view button pressed and Clipboard ticked? Seems a bug in 12 build 486. Confirmed by many users on the SCS forum.

Tools > Burn Disc > DVD… (and Blu-ray Disc) give you an estimated size of the project with their render parameters.
