Uncheck the “Quickfade Audio Edits” under “Options.”
Existing fades are not removed.

Do you happen to have “Ignore Event Grouping” selected?
It’s a Toolbar button and in “Options” as well. -

It is the same in Movie Studios. Incidentally, Movie Studio (Platinum) 13 now asks with first-added video, if “you want to set your project video settings to match this media.“

Simon, it seems you probably had “Ignore Event Grouping” selected then and that was the problem.

If you did create a group, I cannot figure out what exactly you are doing differently. Pls see if this screen recording of my way might show different settings.

Does ctrl&drag do anything in this MS 13 project? And yes, ctrl+alt+drag is supposed to “trim adjacent”, i.e. “to trim selected event and adjacent event simultaneously”.
Have you tried to create new projects to see if you have the same problem?

Simon, your first post was clear enough. That workflow (not using the Selection edit tool) gives similar stretching/compression for me in VMSP 11 and MSP 13.
Are you sure you’re using the Normal edit tool to Ctrl+drag?
Do you see “Time Stretch” when you hold down the control button at the end of the selection?
