Your track header area is probably too wide. Drag left between the track list and timeline (track view) to make more space to the latter. The edit boxes area below the timeline responds earlier than the previous versions, if you widen the track list.

MSP 12 means Movie Studio Platinum 12, which does not have the Color Match. Movie Studio Platinum 13 has the Color Match.

Or you have Expanded track layers.
If you do not see any red bracket to indicate an event edge and the tricks above do not work, try right-clicking the track header and deselect Expand Track Layers. And double-clicking the vertical scroll bar will mimimize/restore the track heights.

Further to my previous post, as editing is not allowed atm.
If you drag and drop a video FX to the timeline, it seems to behave the way Steve said.

And I thought you need to copy / paste event attributes, if you want to apply properties such as video event effects from one event to other events.
I selected events to end (in VPro 11 and 13) and applied a video FX to the first event. The FX was not in the other events.

While waiting for JR and others to chime in, you should read this document.
It mentions several important points you should be aware of when creating DVDs.
E.g. “If you’re creating a DVD, render to MPEG-2 for the video.”
And most of “Compress, recompress and bit rate settings” Q&A as well as “Workflow” Q&A provide essential info.

And you’d be hard pressed to get the 2 1/2 hours of video on a regular single layer DVD with decent quality.

Thanks Joel. Interesting, considering that the only option to burn DVD from the timeline in Movie Studio Platinum is to use mpeg-2.
I’d understand this, if you were making both BD and DVD and use DVD Architect, but otherwise it makes you wonder.

P.S. Check (Help menu / About…) that you have updated to the last build (1183/1184) of MSP 12 (from the SCS site, Download /Updates/All Vegas updates).
