Nice,
Yesterday I left Final Cut rendering the sequence in DVCPROHD and also worked.
I’ts a pain because all the ratios are mess up (because of the 1440×1080 size) but has been good for the test because all the weird renders went away.So this points to ProRes+Hardware render engine as the origin of the problem
I will try uncompressed but I need to free up 300 GB!
If the Computers are free tonigth (this issue is delaying us the delivery of the Programs to the Broadcaster!!) we will try the trick of forcing the software render engine with a Plug-in adjusted to zero value!

But both cards are just I/O so the ProRes compression/decompression task are handled by the CPU and neither the Kona3 or the HD Extreme have intervention on that, isn’t?
So both will perform the same….

Glad to hear this.
I have been hired to edit a docu/series shoot in HDV with 12 hours of footage per program!
The production company wanted me to edit and post in native HDV.. damn! what a pain! I have convinced them to “ugrade” to FCP6 and Decklink HD Extreme and capture and edit in ProRes HD
I was this moorning a little bit afraid because I have heard that a Quad G5 (6GB RAM) is not enougth (even worse than HDV) to handle the codec compression/decompression tasks.
Your Post it’s a relief for me.. I know that I have still the option of DVCPROHD.. but I have been convincing them about the benefits of ProRes.
I have to tell that on my Quad G5, with 5.5GB and a Multibrigde Extreme, Prores in SD works like DV
thanks!

well I asked this question to the AJA folks in the NAB and the answer was clear..
Only Prores…
the box has a build in chip to code/decode prores in hardware, so any input will be coded to Prores and the ProRes stream coming from the mac will be decoded to any output available…
The old Io boxes was able to do DVCPROHD navively…

Andres,

So, then the video output of the XBOX it’s YUV?
Do you know if the PS3 it’s also YUV?
thanks!

Hola Andres,
misterios!

Well.. now it’s working…
I have connected the HD Analalog component out…
Swicthed the BMD Pref Pane to YRB input…
and, Voila! it’s working…then, just for curiosity I plugged back the SDI Cable to the HD-SDI input.. went again to the BMD Pref Pane and select SDI input…
and, can you imagine… now its working… I din’t changed anything else.. sable setup, same cables…
this seems very odd but now it’s working….
BTW; Andres.. Drivers 6.3 should be around the corner, because Decklink Drivers are already 6.3 and the Eclipse will be shipping at the end of July…
cheers!

Well Is not only that…
Intensity it’s only working with YUV signals… and probably the Xbox i’ts outputing RGB signals…
HDMI standard can use both.. YUV and RGB
cheers!
