In my case the preview works fine with regular video, but with stereo HD it just won´t work. I still have to try converting to another codec, but find it strange that any video that conforms to the timeline, might not work, while other video will without any hitch.

Thanks very much for your input.
I just used the converter software that came with the camera. Another camera of mine produces m2t, which I can use and edit without difficulty. Is it possible that you can import video on the timeline, see the image and random positiions, play audio effortlessly, all in a codec SVP seems to accept and still have the wrong codec?
Will the quality of the image (full HD) remain when using motion jpeg? I thought that codec compresses the signal substantially.
I always like to understand why something doesn’t work, so I know how to handle related problems in the future.
Hope to hear from you.

The camera produces avi-files, which SVP12 doesn’t accept. But with software provided with the camera I converted it to m2t. That I can drag to the timeline. The image is visible and the sound audible. It seems to be double HD NTSC (29.something fps). SVP12 recognizes the format and adjusts settings accordingly. So everything seems fine, until I hit PLAY.

Thanks Mark. Tried it.
My media are on an internal, not-OS drive, which is in use when I start Vegas. Aero is off, as are all firewalls, powersaving, gadgets, internet, and mediarelated software other than Vegas. Whether GPU is on or off doesn’t seem to matter. It can’t be that there’s too much going on already, because I only start up Vegas and try to preview the only track in it, right after startup. Closing down and trying again just gives the same result. This is with stereo media.
When I tried an old project in HD and previewed it, there seemed to be no problem. I haven’t tried extensive HD-projects yet. Before I installed the new GPU, multiple HD tracks made preview in best quality near impossible.Hope someone has a Eureka moment…… I’m fresh out.

I have a Ati Radeon HD GPU, which is what Sony has tested and approved to use with Pro 12, and still after about a second of previewing Pro 12 crashes every time. Removed both Vegas versions from my computer and re-installed Pro 12. No improvement.
Also strange that when opening the project (consisting of just one track of stereo video and audio)the counter at the bottom instanteniously says 26% and stays there for over a minute before the track is visible on the timeline. Project properties seem okay.Any thoughts?

I can’t find the thread about this problem which existed a couple of hours ago, that was about Pro12 crashing when trying to preview or render. I have the same problem. Took your advise and removed Vegas versions from the system, then re-installed 12. I have a brand new graphics card Ati Radeon HD 7000 series with 1Gb and GPU is ON. What else can I be doing wrong?

I’m having the same problem, I think. As suggested in earlier answers to this problem, I set all events to ‘disable resample’. This changed the stripe effect into huge, more fuzzy shadows in avi-files with motion where the original material has hardly any or none at all. I shot on HD and rendered to avi. Is there a problem in that maybe?
I also tested the field interpolation settings and found that the setting ‘blend’ combined with ‘gaussian’ gave the least bad result, but none of them solve the problem.
In the manual I found that on the videobus you should be able to disable motion blur. But though I work with Vegas 9 Pro 64bit I couldn’t find this choice in the submenu. So now I’m basically stuck.

I edited HD video in Pro9 and it looks great. But when rendered as DV Widescreen, Windows Media Player shows lots of pixeling, smudging and unsharpness. I changed properties to progressive scan where needed, but this didn’t change it. When rendered as HD it shows a shadow in motion which I can not loose however I render it. What can I do?
