What is the audio sample rate of your project?
What is the audio sample rate of your footage?If it was shot on a VX1000, chances are it’s 3200k.
Those JVC decks are nice, but a little flighty.

Go back to XP. I’ve heard it will be a while before Avid gets ported to Vista – something about Vista being 64bit and Avid being 32bit….

More ram is always better – go with 2gb.
I’m pretty sure you can’t bring media from your Quadra system to the XPress Pro. The Quadra used the ABVB boardset, and the next major release was the OMFI file system (If I remember correctly – somebody correct me if I’m wrong).
You should be able to bring your project in (all your cuts, tape info, etc.) with no problem at all.
Unless its dead, it might be cheaper to finish your cut on the Quadra, then rent a machine to finish. Just a thought.

Are you running into problems? If you are, please give us more details. In general, I export same as source quicktimes (if Avid and AE are on the same machine, you can use QT reference files). For export out of AE, I use animation CODEC.

I’ve never heard the term before, but it sound’s like you’ll be babysitting a machine whilst it does a batch digitize…

My initial answer is no. But after thinking about it, try pressing control and double click the title in the bin. I kind of think it won’t, but it’s worth a try. Let us know if it works.

No. The basic answer is to hit record / play. Some decks will allow you to start time code at a specific number. For instance, we start our master tapes at 58:30 – 30 seconds of bars and tone, 15 seconds of slate and 15 seconds of black and the show starts at one hour. But everybody does it different.
You can’t sart the TC at a specific point on the DSR-11.

If Steve wrote it, it’s good. I sat in on a training session once and he’s really got a knack for making things seem easy. I’m not sure about the other book. The training video is not the rehash of the tutorial – it’s good in depth information starting from the beginning.
