I think UltraKey works just as well in Premiere as it does in After Effects. Some were saying it works better in AE but I couldn’t see a difference. The fact that it works fast and well (supposedly) in PPCC means one less step and workflow.

So Joe, you had the identical issue as I did? Top half of footage cut off? Very weird. I mean we should be able to use UltraKey with a garbage matte and export via AME any way we want. Fix this Adobe!

Could not solve, but workaround was to export as ProRes444, then bring that into AME, re-encode to web spec. Why this is happening???? Clearly a bug with UltraKey.

This issue still baffles me to. I’ve found that changing timecode mode in camera from “freerun” to “recrun” makes it work. However I noticed on my last l&t of footage that the EOS utlity just seemed to randomly skip clips; as in they never showed up in the transfer list. So something squirley is still there. I think the EOS utility is buggy and not working correctly in FCP7. Also, I’d much prefer “freerun” timecode.

Todd, I tend to agree on Alexa. It doesn’t look like F3 or Red to me.

Just finished phone and remote session with Matrox support rep. (Joe). Very patient and helpful and figured out the issue. It has to do with AUDIO OUTPUT settings in PP pref. Visit this link to get the whole sequence.

I hope this works for some of you guys too!

    Thanks Joe!!

    Yes I think so 2.2.3

I beginning to think it can’t run on a MBP. What is your system?

Well I sure can’t seem to run CS5.5PP as far as utilizing my Matrox MX02LE to monitor. I get nothing out of PP. Works fine on FCP7. Have one of you guys gotten a Matrox02 box to display external video with PPCS5.5? How??

    Hi jongrimson,

There are no Matrox boxes in PP preferences. You simply need to work in a Matrox sequence in order to enable video output through the MXO2.

The only Matrox option in the PP preferences is for using the Matrox player in order to output the preview window through the MXO2. Preferences->Player Settings>Matrox player

Also, double check that the video output settings in the Matrox appplication are suitable for your output monitor.

Some problems can arise if you’ve had previous version of Adobe installed. Is this the case with your system? If so, please follow the following procedure:

Procedure for cleaning up all versions of Adobe Creative Suite (CS5/CS4/CS3) and re-installing only CS5 on MAC’s:

    1. Uninstall Matrox driver (run the uninstaller located in Applications -> Matrox MXO2 Utilities -> Matrox MAX Software Uninstaller)
    2. Uninstall all versions of Adobe Creative Suite (CS5/CS4/CS3)
    3. Download the Adobe cleanup tool here: https://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html (mac version at the bottom of the page)
    4. Run the adobe cleaner tool multiple times (at least 3 times). Do so for CS5 and CS4/CS3 (you will see both these options in the cleaner tool).
    5. Restart MAC
    6. Re-install adobe CS5.5 and update fully.
    7. Re-download & re-install the appropriate Matrox driver (2.2.3)

OK, I’ve gone through all that and still no luck. Tried every combination I can think of in new sequence settings with Matrox presets, playback settings for Matrox matching sequence settings.

“Video Preview” has it’s own settings also, Quicktime or I Frame MPEG. Tried all those that make sense too.

Can’t get any combination to work. FCP7 lights up fine on same material. IT is P2 originated DVCPRO HD 60 23.98 as QuickTimes from my FCP capture folder. The video will preview on my computer monitor but I get nothing via MATROX 02LE with Max to my external monitor.

    What else??

This from the Matrox forum. As I indicate I’ve tried everything and still no external monitoring. Has ANYBODY had success with PP in CS5.5 and Matrox yet????? I’m stumped, and AJA has their updates working with their hardware.
