    Bobby,

Give me a shout off-list and I can fill you in on the details.

Thanks, Kristian. At least now there is some sort of reason for this craziness. And it’s not just me. 😉

I still can’t believe the MBE was released with no type of proc amp controls.

Well, let’s just hope that in 3 – 4 weeks we’ll have some kind of solution.

Thanks, Borjis. I’m very well aware of how to adjust output levels on my PVW-2800. But here’s my point – I SHOULD be able to adjust the levels in software (or BMD hardware) as I’m capturing the footage, instead of getting up, going across the room to change it on the betacam, then run back to look at the scopes, then go back and fine tune, check the scope, etc.

My Media 100 system had this feature from the very early days of the product (mid 90s). When capturing, you can adjust an input proc amp, and save the setting with that clip. So if you ever re-dig, you have the same levels w/o messing up your deck’s output levels.

If this isn’t possible in BMD products yet, it very well should be!

OK, adding to my own post…

The plot thickens. If I open BMD Deck Control, then preferences, then the ‘Advanced’ button in the video settings, I see that the ‘Adjustments’ tab is greyed out also. So this problem has nothing to do with FCP per se, but rather BMD.

    So once again I ask:

HOW DOES ONE SET VIDEO INPUT LEVELS WITH A MULTIBRIDGE EXTREME?

Maybe AJA could answer this for me? >:-(

  • I had a similar problem without updating the Pro Apps. I messed around for 3 hours before fixing (I think) the problem. But now I don’t know exactly which thing I did, fixed the problem. Besides restarting the G5 and the MBE, I also ended up disconnecting the composite/ref input on the MBE which had been connected to the output of an unused deck. So it may have been getting an inaccurate sync reference and causing the flashes & audio drop out.

    4.0G RAM
    OS 10.4.6
    QT 7.1
    FCP 5.0.4
    BMD Multibridge Extreme 5.4

Thanks for that, Paul. I’ll try your suggestion of re-posting under a different header.

I guess a phone call to BMD support on Monday is my last resort.

No. I CANNOT adjust input levels in the BMD control panel. THERE IS NO SETTING ANYWHERE THERE FOR ADJUSTING INPUT LEVELS – AT LEAST NOT WITH v5.4. And yes, I am capturing ANALOG COMPONENT, NOT SDI, NOT DV. I know you can’t adjust those on input.

Gosh, it would be nice if BMD would respond to the support ticket I submitted 5 days ago. Grant, you guys are killing me here.

If this is all true (no adjustments possible on capture), then that’s just plain ludicrous! I paid $2500 for a high-end capture solution, and I can’t even adjust the frickin’ input levels when capturing footage???

BMD, please tell me it ain’t so!

And the BMD control panel would be found where? Are you talking about the System Prefs BMD panel, because I don’t see any video adjustments there. And as far as BMD apps, I see Deck Control, Disk Speed Test & Live Key.

So you’re saying I can’t adjust any analog video settings in FCP while capturing? Who’s the rocket scientist that came up with that concept?

Sorry for being a bit agitated, but this whole thing just defies logic.

Um… yeah… except that I’m capturing analog component (Beta SP) through the MBE. There has to be SOME kind of control for ingest levels.
