I don’t where ur friend is getting information but ppro cs3 is able to work withpeg files. If you captured with the z1p and it was working then something has happened to ur installation.

I don’t understand why u are trying to make the problem the format. It’s not mpeg. If u are able to open the file and play onedia player then the file os not corrupted.

It appears ur situation began two days ago. Trying to convert the file into another format is not the solution here. Reinstalling would have taken an hour.

If u set in out points u need to press the right button to record just that part. Pressing the “tape” button will capture from the current point in the tape to the very end.
If u set an in out section be sure to press the “in/out” button.

When it comes to gradient smoothness from on shade to another video is bound to colour depth. Dv and mpeg-2 like most codecs are 8bit. This will affect the shade levels within a gradient “smoothness” and quality. 10bit is too big for consumer needs but possible.

If u lessen the difference in brightness value in the master colours of the gradient u could end up with a better result in 8bit as the require shades are less to begin with.

I experienced this with my mac version not long after the 4.2.1 update.

To fix it I uninstalled ppro. Rebooted. Installed ppro and let it do the update on it’s own. It imprted right after and was on 4.2.1 so I don’t know how it got corrupted but the reinstall got me up again.

About 40mins (Internet speed for update download may vary time) in total.

Uninstall QuickTime. Find the installer for the version of qt that worked before. Reboot.

Install the “older” QT. reboot.

It should run as it was. Don’t update QT if u are working. With QT there’s a not broken don’t fix it policy.

M2ts is not supported in CS3. It is in CS4.

If don’t want to upgrade then u must convert thefile into a different format. Cineform has a paid product with 30day trial called Neo. There are probably other applications that van convert but cineform is almost a staple plugin for ppro users these days.

To “stretch” a title just use the selection tool to pull it out longer. Crawl titles will adjust their speed according to the length u make it. The stretch tool works on video and audio files.

My guess is something has happened in changing something in after effects. If you have embedded AE comps using Dynamic Link this can also cause some issues as it has to open a headless version of AE then scour the comps match names of comps to those it has embedded in the PPro project, so if you have changed the name of a comp you will have created a problem in finding the comps that are nested.

Load up times are also a killer when working on larger projects using Dynamic Link.

I would render out what you have in AE. Then I would attempt to load the ppro project and not let it find the files. so everything is offline. Best way to do this is to change the name of the folder/s that contain your media.

Then relink everything except the DL comps. You need to replace them with the renders. I know this is convoluted but this is the workaround. The entire project will need to reindex and conform again, but just let it and you should be back on track.
