importing .m2ts files
Posted by Ian Fordyce on March 21, 2010 at 7:56 pmCan Premiere Pro Cs3 import .m2ts files? When I attempt it, i get an error message saying that the file is either damaged or the format is not supported. The files I’m trying to import were sent to me using Dropbox and are mpegs which I thought would import just fine. However, they won’t and it seems like the ‘ts’ which stands for ‘transfer stream’ is the problem to me. Are they temporary files that can’t be imported until I get a permanent copy or is it a problem of still using Cs3?

March 22, 2010 at 2:10 amAlso, what parameters do you, personally, enter for a new hi-def project? Will I not be able to import hd files into a project if its not set up with the correct parameters (ie. frame rate, aspect ratio)?

March 22, 2010 at 2:27 amI guess it would be important to note that I’m not importing or capturing the files from a camera or recording device. They were sent to me with the program called Dropbox. I have a feeling that if I were trying to capture them from a recording device they would probably work. I would just like to understand why it won’t let me import them from my computer’s hard drive.

March 22, 2010 at 3:37 amAn m2t file saved from Premiere Pro can be Imported into would you believe Premiere Elements 4 and it will export as a Cineform avi file and in High definition if used.Especially valuable if used to Export to Tape if videocamera is nor recognised in Premiere Pro.

March 22, 2010 at 5:20 amM2ts is not supported in CS3. It is in CS4.
If don’t want to upgrade then u must convert thefile into a different format. Cineform has a paid product with 30day trial called Neo. There are probably other applications that van convert but cineform is almost a staple plugin for ppro users these days.

March 22, 2010 at 12:56 pmNot into CS3. I had many hours of this last year (nightmare project) and had to convert it all, involving lots of rendering.
