I do quite a bit of TV shows and having templates transitions and lower thirds is an absolute must! Working with both FCP & PPRO the workflow for both is the same. Make a template project that has a sequence dedicated to transitions, lower 3rds and gfx. Start with that project and save as or import the project to existing projects to keep all the template builds. 😉

It would appear that you are comparing the AE experience working with raw (uncompressed) colour data that is starting from sometime basic (not much video sources) rendering out and the working with heavily compressed video that needs to decode before it is re-encoded and that requires massive CPU usage and if you add reading the drive it has come from and writing back the new file to the same drive, which will bottle neck the drive speed along with the CPU decoding and then encoding to another format (perhaps compressed too) all makes for a long render time.
Try to export to Uncompressed and to a separate drive (preferably internal SATA or eSATA or USB3 or at least Firewire – USB2 is slow, slow slow).

It is a data transfer technically so it is a copy of the format recorded to. Which is mpeg-2. I forget the data rate but it is the same as DV. As it is more info in less space it requires a bit more power to edit with than DV.
You are not losing any data or quality from the tape.
Transcending to a cinefom code cab increase the colour space for better quality colour sampling in red and colour grading in general, but that’s for higher end needs broadcast level using HDV source footage. Even then its not necessary.

The jump to next previous edit is a different short cut, page up and page down.
It is then dictated by the active tracks too. It will only jump to activate track edit points. You can see an active track is lighter colour.

I usually check with the both fields switched on, but DV is always Lower Field First so that may be all the problem is stemming from.
Otherwise, as a final check I watch back in VLC and make sure to manually uncheck the field deinterlace to keep all fields running then when the fields are wrong it looks like the picutre bounces back and forth each frame, because techinally that is what it is doing, the field order is showing the action with the wrong field 1st therefore bouncing 1/2 a frame in time fwd the back, then fwd then back. If it’s correct it will be all forward. The fields might make it look “messy” but its not bouncing back and forth.
It will still show on an LCD if the fields are both active on playback at 100% with VLC.

I am all for free speech, but this forum is for access to help, not propaganda.
If you have a problem with the software, we can attempt to help you with it. If you prefer a different program for your needs – use it.
Personally I have always found the Vega’s layout unintuitive and tricky to work with for me. I can use it if I need to, but I do have my preference for PPro. I use FCP almost daily and still prefer PPro. I guess that’s why there is choice.
It’s a shame you chose to complain on a space where you could be banned for venting.

There are several ways to work with your scenario.
Marquee select across all clips that require the trim and then hold the ctl (PC) or cmd (mac) to make the selection arrow become the ripple tool. Position the playhead at Tue point you want to trim to. Use the ripple tool to pull one of the selected clips to snap at the playhead. The entire selection will ripple.
Another way would be to select everything after the position. Then use the shift selection shortcut to move the selection along and see the edit point ripple in or our depending on the way you move the selection.
A key for track select tool. Hold shift. It becomes two arrows. Left mouse click to select clips in all tracks from arrow head on. Use combo of alt and left or right arrow key to move the selection. 1 frame at a time. If you hold shift too it will move in 5 frame increments.
Hope it makes sense. I might make a tutorial on it. 🙂

When you set up the Dynamic Link AE would have asked you to set a project which would have saved where you set it.
Check that you can Edit original from the AE Comp in the PPro Project. It will most likely ask to see where it is.
If you have problems with that then you may be able to find the project from the recent list in opening After Effects.
It’s most likely the link has broken. There ‘should’ be the saved project file with the clip you sent via replace with AE Comp.
If not you may need to work from an older Auto save PPro Project to find the clip you used and the way you used it.
As a workflow I tend to edit in a sequence and get the timing right or close to before I start working on any Dyn Link (DL) clips. When I am happy with what I have and want to use DL, I make a duplicate of the Seq and then add “DL_” to the name of it. So then I have a copy of the edited clips before they were sent away to AE, as you now know there is not undo or ‘revert’.
