what’s happening is you’re shrinking footage to fit the 4:3 screen that would otherwise be looking fine in its full 16:9 form where the outer edges are set to interlace in the correct pixel grid and would even be trimmed off on a TV.
This grid of pixels in actual footage what was captured in which resolution to what you are cutting in the timeline not perfectly lining up to resulting in the flickering.
Use the earlier suggestion to create an overlaying black bars that crop everything underneath it to shave off the top and bottom 1 or 2 pixels. Or use the flicker removal effect for the clip/s that are causing the most problems. Keep in mind also that a Computer montior will show up things that won’t on a CRT/LCD/Plasma TV due to interlacing and how the PC software deals with it.– Jon 😉

I would suggest you use AE to setup the clips you’ve cut as single clips into seperated COMPS and use the Render Cueue with a preset for FLV that is set as the default. Set up one and have the where its saving to done, then select the remainder Comps (I’d put them into a Folder) drag them into the Render Cueue. Render Overnight. Each with have an assigned name based on the Comp name.

Make sure your HD clip is set to Scale to Frame Size. Because its HD res inside an SD timeline it is pixel for pixel bigger and looks zoomed in. The Multicam feature is probably automatically doing the Scale to Frame Size although its not switched on in the timeline.
To activate this feature right click the clip in the timeline and select the option “Scale to Frame Size”.

If you are export with Quicktime or H.264 your version of Quicktime might not be a good one. I suggest you restart PPro and use the Adobe Media Encoder and use either an MPEG2 or WMV.
You haven’t mentioned what format or delivery you want to go to? DVD, web, DV, camera/deck HD, widescreen etc. Please provide more detail…

I’m sorry your message isn’t all that clear. Are you working in 16×9 4×3 which is the clip you want to work right doing that’s not right? If you are working with the Z1 HDV camera by sony you can set that camera to capture the HDV as DV…

Use iTunes but make sure the preferences are set to import the audio as aif or wav. All audio tracks from CDs come out loud, often too loud. FCP has this issue too as its the audio file not the NLE. You just need to pull down the audio gain. Or pull down the Audio layers levels in the Mixer.

I’m sorry, but you do have the audio concept incorrect. If you add audio it adds and makes more loudness. Therefore a near peaked audio ontop of near peaked audio will peak. This is why mixing is a sole industry. It requires lots of work to get a MIX perfect. Pull your Dialog/VO track down to live inside the -18dB and -6dB. Music as BG should be somewhere in the -30 to -18dB range, Full AUdio (the only thing running) should be around the -12dB to -6dB. These are rough guides but remember that a peak into red is the all sounds when added together are too loud. (or it’s too loud on its own). Try to only touch the yellow area (starts at -6dB).
Doing TVC’s is another matter for audio mixing as they are compressed to sounds as loud as they can be without losing the illusion of range (high’s lows) while always being full loudness and never peaking.

Sorry to break this to you, but Mac FCP uses its own Mac only codec called ProRes. This is not available on PCs! You will need to re-export the clips in a codec that both platforms can use like DV, Uncompressed or Animation… I’m very disappionted in Apple for making their software so incompatible with other professional environments that are, believe it or not – PC based Production Studios.
The other option is to recapture it on the PC.

What’s being said is you should always finish a project on the one system setup before you upgrade. Newer versions of PPRo do different things and some effects are not labelled the same so they get left off or things don’t quite appear the same. Especially from 1.5 to CS3.
– The Matrox is probably not installed properly. Uninstall all the software and the drivers. Reboot so the computer asks for the drivers of the card, but don’t install them. Install the software which will install the drivers with the software. Provided there is no other folders for PPro installs it will install the right stuff into the CS3 folders and should work. Otherwise the codecs are different and not native for RT.X2. Capture something with RT.X2 project… see if the hardware is working properly.
