I was afraid that might be the case.

    Ok bumped into another problem.

The video will play in the first few seconds (the vid is only 2 seconds long) but I need it to play further down the timeline. I can’t seem to turn on animation for the texture or keyframe the video so it only plays where I want it to. Do I need to add a tag to the material or am I missing some kind of switch that allows me to move the beginning of the vid to where I want it?

    Cheers

Great. Thanks Andy. I’ve been away from C4D for a while.

I’ve never used wiggle path before. Googled it and looked here but didn’t find a great deal on my specific problem. I need to create a path which i can put bezier points on and then move that line to another shape that will then distort the footage as it travels. Basically the same math that’s used as mesh warp but without the mesh, just a line that can be drawn and then keyframed. The line then pulls or pushes the image according to it’s movement.

    Thanks for chipping in Tony

The only time I’ve had a problem with AE crashing on opening is when I had a personal preference on the layout over two screens. Deleting the personal preference layout settings was what solved the issue for me.

September 9, 2010 at 11:14 pm in reply to: Rotobrush weirdness or is it me?

Yeah I know sounds weird but what I am doing is creating an alpha channel which then will have moving images projected through it live. The still is being used purely as an edge guide for the matte. So what I did was run a still frame alpha over ten seconds of prores 422. But when I exported the alpha only lasted one frame then just went black. This happened on AE and PP. I’m now doing the alpha’s in Photoshop and then exporting them into AE which seems to work but I wanted to try and stay in AE for speed. It seemed whenever I tried to run the roto over even a video of a still I ran into problems. If the alpha is a non moving alpha then perhaps the roto starts to have problems as there is nothing to estimate mathematically. Anyway sorted for the mo but in the future would like to know if there is something about roto over a still that creates a problem?

Serge, that was sweet and fast. Will look at all your suggestions. I have access to C4D but will check out Invigorator and Zaxwerks.

    Thanks again

No you are correct, the 90 degree is rounded, so in effect you have about twenty feet straight, twenty feet round the building and then same again straight. Angle is looking up so both curves are upper, as in bottom line and top line.
